In the Hopkins lab I am involved in projects that seek to bridge the gap between evolutionary ecology and ecotoxicology (“evolutionary ecotoxicoogy” if you want us to make up some new jargon!). Specifically, we are interested in examining to what extent mothers pass contaminants to their offspring in turtles, and what the phenotypic effects are to those offspring. Further, by developing a long-term study site, we are hoping to examine the ultimate implications of phenotypic changes resulting from maternal transfer in turtles by examining survival and recruitment.
